Ingredients for Baked Tofu:

  • 1 block (14-16 ounces) firm or extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

How to make Baked Tofu:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Press the tofu to remove excess water: Place the block of tofu between two plates lined with paper towels. Place a heavy object on top (such as a can or a skillet) and let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes or slices, depending on your preference.
  5. Place the tofu in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Pour the marinade over the tofu, making sure each piece is coated evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and cilantro, if desired.
