Trashcan nachos are a fun and indulgent dish made famous by Guy Fieri. This recipe takes classic nacho ingredients and layers them in a clean trashcan before baking, creating a unique and shareable appetizer that’s perfect for parties or game day gatherings.

Ingredients for Trashcan Nachos:

  • 1 bag tortilla chips
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup salsa
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

How to Make Trashcan Nachos:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the taco seasoning to the ground beef according to package instructions.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, and bell peppers.
  5. Line the bottom of a clean metal trashcan with a large trash bag.
  6. Layer half of the tortilla chips on the bottom of the trashcan.
  7. Top the chips with half of the ground beef mixture, followed by half of the bean and vegetable mixture.
  8. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the layers.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining tortilla chips, ground beef, bean and vegetable mixture, and cheese.
  10. Carefully remove the trash bag from the trashcan, leaving the nacho tower intact.
  11. Place the nacho tower on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  13. Serve the trashcan nachos with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
